After auditing hundreds of sites, we keep seeing the same five mistakes over and over.
1. No Clear Value Proposition Above the Fold
Your hero section has about 3 seconds to communicate who you are, what you do, and why anyone should care. If a visitor has to scroll down or read three paragraphs to figure that out, you've lost them.
Fix it: One bold headline, one supporting sentence, one call to action. That's it.
2. Too Many Calls to Action
When everything is a priority, nothing is. Sites crammed with "Buy Now", "Learn More", "Sign Up", "Book a Call" and "Download the Guide" all competing for attention create decision paralysis.
Fix it: Pick one primary CTA per page section. Everything else is secondary — visually and contextually.
3. Slow Load Times
Google has confirmed that page speed is a ranking factor. More importantly, 53% of mobile users abandon a site that takes longer than 3 seconds to load. Every second costs you money.
Fix it: Compress images, use a CDN, and eliminate render-blocking scripts. Run your site through PageSpeed Insights today.
4. No Social Proof at the Decision Point
Most sites put testimonials at the very bottom of the page — the last place someone looks before closing the tab. By then, they've already decided.
Fix it: Put your strongest testimonial or trust signal directly next to your CTA. Proximity to the action is everything.
5. Designed for Desktop Only
Over 60% of web traffic is now mobile. Yet most business sites are still built desktop-first, with tiny tap targets, overflowing text, and forms that are nearly impossible to fill out on a phone.
Fix it: Test every page on a real iPhone and Android device before you go live. Better yet, design mobile-first from the start.
If any of these sound familiar, you're not alone. These are fixable — and fixing them can double your conversion rate without spending another dollar on ads.
